How do I interpret the status of a journal review assignment?
When a reviewer has been invited to a review task their name will appear in the Reviewers
section of the submission page, with a row of information providing information about the assignment. The status of the assignment will change depending on the stage it is at and whether the associated task is overdue or not.
Invitation pending
When the invitation has been sent, the status of the review will be marked as Request Sent
with the Response due
date underneath it. This is the date that the reviewer should reply by, either to accept or decline the invitation.
If the Response due
date passes without the reviewer replying then the status will change to Overdue
. The Response due
date will be retained to show when the reply was expected by.
Awaiting review
If the reviewer has accepted the review task but not yet submitted their feedback, then the status will display as Request Accepted
. Below the status, the review due
date will be displayed. This is the deadline given to the reviewer to submit their feedback.
If the Review due
date passes without the reviewer submitting their review feedback then the status will change to Overdue
. The Review due
date will be retained to show when the review comments were expected by.
Declined invitation
If the reviewer declines the invitation to complete the review then the status will show that they have submitted this decision as Request Declined
.
