Does the journal system send automatic reminders to reviewers?

Yes. The editorial system has a setting that can be enabled to send out two distinct sorts of reminder emails to reviewers - it is recommended that this is enabled: 

  1. To respond to the review invitation so that the reviewer will accept or decline the invitation.
  2. To submit a review after they have agreed to complete the task. 

It will send one of each of these reminder emails (where appropriate). The length of time before a reminder is sent is a setting in the journal and can be changed by the journal manager.
