How do I know which files will be sent to reviewers?

When you begin the first round of review, you will be asked which files you would like to ‘Send to Review’.  All of the files originally uploaded by the author will be listed here and you can keep them ticked or choose to untick them.

Unticking a file will mean that file is not included in the ‘Review Files’ in the ‘Review’ tab.  You can check each file by clicking on the title and by checking the file designation, i.e. whether it is the ‘Manuscript’, a ‘Supplementary File’, etc.

These files will now appear in the ‘Review Files’ in the ‘Review’ tab and are available to be sent out to a new reviewer. N.B. If you are on an additional round of review, i.e. the second or third round, you may want to send a file from a previous round out for review, e.g. a supplementary file that wasn’t changed during revisions. If so, you can search for these files by clicking ‘Upload/Select Files’ and ticking the box ‘Show files from all accessible workflow stages’.

Please note, when you invite a reviewer you will have another opportunity to choose which files the reviewer will be able to view.

When you want to invite a new reviewer, you choose the reviewer you wish to invite by clicking ‘Select Reviewer’ and this will open the invitation template. Beneath the text box you will have the option to choose which files will be visible to the reviewer. Unless you choose otherwise, all files uploaded in the ‘Review Files’ section will be available during the review process. To see these files, click on ‘Files To Be Reviewed’.

This will open a drop down menu with all of the files and a tick box option.  Any files that you do not wish to send out for review will need to be left unticked when you send the review by clicking ‘Add Reviewer’.  You can still check each file at this stage by clicking on the title of the file.
