What user roles / permissions are available using the journal management system?
Users may be enrolled as one or more of the following categories: author, reviewer, section editor, and editor. Each of these roles has varying levels of permissions
- Author: permission to submit and track their manuscripts through the editorial process, and respond to reviews and editor queries
- Copyeditor: permission to receive and conduct copyediting, as invited by the editor or section/guest editor
Reviewer: permission to receive and conduct peer reviews, as invited by the editor or section/guest editor
Section/Guest editor: permission to coordinate the editorial assessment, review, and revisions of a manuscript for a particular section or article type when assigned to them by an editor. Section/Guest editors can only view submission data for submissions that they are assigned to
- If you would like Section or Guest Editors to only have permissions to make editorial recommendations but not have permission to log formal decisions then contact your Journal Manager. If enabled, an Editor will be required to log the editorial decisions, based on a recommendation.
- Editor: overlooks the entire JMS and can see all submissions at all stages. They can assign other editors or section editors to manuscripts for processing through review, as well as manage manuscripts themselves
A single user may be allocated a combination of all of the above roles.
