Which metrics do ]u[ Ubiquity platforms track?

Ubiquity is an active development parter of OPERAS Metrics, an EU initivative to provide an open source metrics platform for academic publishers. The OPERAS Metrics aggregates usage from multiple locations to provide a more holistic measure of the publication impact. The ]u[ Ubiquity platforms track the following metrics:

  • Views
  • Downloads
  • Citations
  • X (until spring 2023)
  • Online Media

OPERAS Metrics provides a complete list of publishers whose content is available in the OPERAS metrics.

Views:


Total sessions on pages where the work can be read, as determined by processing the Access Logs of the website. A Session is a group of visits made by the same user within a continuous time frame, and ends after 30 minutes of inactivity; if a single user keeps interacting with the website within this time frame, multiple visits to the same work will be counted as one session.




Downloads:


Total number of times a work has been downloaded, as determined by processing the Access Logs of the website. Multiple downloads of the same work that occur over a single session will be counted as one download. A Session is a group of visits made by the same user within a continuous time frame, and ends after 30 minutes of inactivity.




Citations:





X / Tweets:


The number of X posts (formerly Titter tweets) that included either the DOI or a URL of the publication.

This service stopped collecting data in Spring 2023 due to X/Twitter cutting off access to their API.




Online Media:


The number of posts in Wordpress.com hosted blogs that have referenced either the DOI or the URL of the publication and the number of citations within Wikipedia articles linking to the published work.
