Can I upload my publication to my institution’s repository, or to other external websites, databases etc?

Yes. The Creative Commons licences (CC BY-NC and CC -BY) used for ]u[ Ubiquity publications ensure that authors retain the copyright for their work, which can be uploaded elsewhere, and deposited in repositories, databases, or any other location believed to be relevant. All we ask is that the original source of the publication is mentioned and the DOI clearly provided. Uploading the published ‘version of record’ is encouraged.

For example, identify pertinent databases, websites and communities of practice that either have (a) an online document library or (b) an online bibliography or list of resources. Or ask colleagues if they belong to any sites or relevant communities where they could upload your work. These often have standard ways of submitting new research, either by sharing the URL/DOI to your research or by sending an email to a generic inbox. Ideally, do not upload the PDF of your publication, as this can both lower the ability of search engines to rank the article highly, and reduce the impact metrics displayed on your article. As your publication is freely available online, simply add the DOI link to the publication and the page will automatically be linked to the article and help to increase its ‘findability’ in online searches.
