Can I link research data to my publication?
Yes. We encourage all research papers to be accompanied by details on the availability to the source data. The (open) repository that the data sits in is up to the author, however, we offer the ]u[ Ubiquity Dataverse for those who wish to use it. Please contact the editorial team at the journal, should you require more information on this process.
As well as linking to available data, we strongly recommend that you cite your data within your publication - e.g. in your methods or results - and add the full citation to the reference list. Many publishers will deposit reference lists with central databases (e.g. Crossref), which can then help to link related content together. Having a formal citation to your data will, therefore, help to surface that information and formally link it with the wider research output.
Should you wish your data to receive more prominence, or link it to an existing publication, we also encourage the publication of Data Papers. These articles should present the research potential of datasets archived within open repositories and include a description of relevant metadata, thus helping to increase the discovery and reuse of your dataset. We also support publication of research software and other kinds of research objects. ]u[ Ubiquity publish several journals specifically aligned to this goal, with examples being the Journal of Open Archaeology Data, the Journal of Open Humanities Data, the Journal of Open Psychology Data, the Journal of Open Research Software, Open Health Dataand the Open Journal of Bioresources.
